Experiences

In the Farm
Several activities are available at the farm, subject to prior booking:

  • Guided tours of the gardens, wood, and farm, learning about the history of Pindela.
  • "Pedagogical Farms"
  • Picnics in the house gardens.
  • Lunches or dinners served in the old house kitchen, for a minimum of 8 people.
  • Participation in grape harvesting (late September or early October)

Guests may purchase delicious food products produced sustainably in the farm: eggs from Portuguese hens, free-range chickens, fruit – kiwis, plums, figs, limes – and vegetables.


In the region

Casa de Pindela has a privileged location to discover the entire Entre-Douro-e-Minho region:
It is just 15 minutes from the city of Braga, with a rich history of more than 2000 years, where stand the oldest Cathedral of Portugal and the Monastery of Tibães, the Mother House of the Benedictines, whose origins date back to the 11th century. Braga, known for its churches, magnificent 18th century manors, gardens, parks and rich gastronomy, was voted the best European destination of 2021.

Guimarães, 30 km away, is an unmissable destination. Classed by UNESCO as World Heritage, it is called the birthplace of Portugal because is the place where D. Afonso Henriques was born in the 12th century. He became the first King of Portugal after conquering independence from the kingdom of Leon and Castile. It is worth strolling through the streets and medieval houses of this historic city and visit the Castle and Palace of the Dukes.

Oporto, the capital of the North, is a World Heritage city, of medieval origin, on the banks of the river Douro. Oporto, just 30 minutes from Pindela, has numerous attractions – monuments, churches, Port wine cellars – or one may simply choose to stroll the busy downtown streets and have a drink by the river, on the bankside.

A further 60 km is the only Portuguese National Park, Peneda-Gerês, occupying an area of more than 700 km2. Considered a World Biosphere Reserve, with a wide variety of fauna and flora, it offers landscapes of enormous beauty.

At a short distance from Pindela, guests can visit other places of great interest: Barcelos, a city known for its faience; Viana do Castelo and Ponte de Lima, in Alto Minho; the lively beaches of Costa Verde – Vila do Conde, Póvoa do Varzim, Esposende, Moledo –, rich in iodine and with great fishing tradition.
